Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP, represent standard practices put forth by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as by other standards’ organizations for manufacturers. A GMP ensures that products are produced with consistency and “controlled according to quality standards,” according to the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).
When it comes to botanical plant extractions, good manufacturing practices ensure quality, efficacy, and safety in each and every product. In the realm of liquid herbal extractions, a lot can go wrong, from inadequate sanitation and bacterial growth, to poor quality raw plant matter.
